Five Tips to Optimize your Computer
All of us want a fast computer or just fast enough not to keep us waiting too much for an application to run. But after a long time of use, especially when it is over worked, the computer tends to run slower if not even to lag or hang. It would act as if the computer is waiting for a major operation or looking for a new one. Before throwing it out of the window or bringing it to a repair shop try these optimizing tips. This may give you a big difference in its speed and operation.
Always Defragment. When you download files, weather it be large or small, open, close or just use them for your daily work, the files sooner or later will be fragmented and this can make your computer run considerably slower. Windows made a built-in tool for this event. Use it at least occasionally and you will notice a better response from your computer and it will work faster.
You must reboot, this is like recharging a battery pack. Like a person sleeps, a computer should also reboot, this will reset and freshen up and clean the memory and other important files of the computer at maximum capacity. A computer must be reboot about three times a week.
A registry cleaner must be used always. It is recommended that the PC should be maintained using this software. Almost all the programs that you are using depend on the system registry and due to this fact, when a problem happens to the registry you will notice it immediately while using the computer. Professional registry cleaners will help keep the computer running at optimum speed; it will help prevent errors in the future.
The service of Indexing could be turned off. This Windows service which is a built in function was made to help the user find folders and files quickly while using the computer. But if you don’t use it, you are just wasting some resources of the computer that you are not even using. Turning this feature off is quite easy but you have to do it in the specific system, you have to search for the instructions to do it.
With persons using the Windows XP flat form it is very easy. All you have to do is open My Computer, then right click on the disk, usually C, when the pop up comes, click properties and when it shows up, un-check the box in the general tab in the bottom that says allow indexing service then do as system reboot. To undo the change just do the same process and click to check the box that allow indexing.
If your system is Windows 7 or Vista, search your Google on how to turn off indexing service for what ever system you are using and follow the set of instructions for the type of operating systems.
Add additional memory (RAM) or upgrade. The memory of your computer is like a muscle that your computer needs to do the various jobs that you require it to make day in and day out. If the computer lacks memory to run the needed applications that you are using you will notice that the machine is not running fast enough. Probably you won’t experience a system crash but a slow performance.
It is fortunate that upgrading memory is cheap; this is a fix for users who need to optimize his computer. It will not cost you much, just a one time investment that will be very productive for a long time use and you will benefit via faster PC operation and computation.
For you to optimize your computer need not be so hard and it will help to extend the life span of your present computer so you will not have to dig into your account and spend a fortune from the repair shop or dish out a bigger investment in buying a brand new unit. The optimizing tips for your PC that is listed above will cost a little or a one time payment or there are even remedies that can be done with out spending a single centavo. To own a computer is like having a car, if you maintain its operation, it won’t let you down for years to come.
