After the installation process, when the program is executed, a very user friendly screen shows up. It is very basic and easy to digest even if you aren’t an advanced user. In the screen where the options for scanning are provided, eleven different registry items are depicted that can be searched for automatically by the program.
Options such as font entries, shared dlls, uninstall entries and active paths are included. By hovering your mouse cursor over each option, you ca obtain more information about each of these options. You can specifically select which entries you want scanned, leaving out the unnecessary entries. In this way, you can choose which ones to scan, hence reducing the time taken by eliminating the unwanted options.
The time taken to scan is always fast and each step is shown to you as it is processing, so you have a good idea about what is going on in your computer. After completion of the scan, a list of files appears which are problematic, along with their location on your OS.
You can then decide which files you want to repair yourself and which ones you want the program to delete automatically. You can go through each entry of the list yourself and decide if that particular files needs deletion. If you decide it does, a simple click will take care of the deletion process. Of course it is advisable only if you have a good amount of knowledge about the Windows registry.
RegCure also has a backup and restore option, which is very convenient. In platforms such as Windows Vista or Windows XP, you can easily backup your registry files through the program. This ensures that if there is any deletion of vital registry files due to an error, you can easily restore the computer’s registry to it’s original state. With Windows 2000 and Windows 98 however, every time that the program deletes a file, it automatically creates a backup of the file.
A very nice option available in RegCure is the inherent scheduler. This feature allows you to schedule a scan for you computer based on a frequency you select, ranging for a day to a month. This ensures that you won’t have to worry about the tedious job that comes with cleaning the registry.
Yet another option available is the Windows Startup manager with which you can easily increase the speed at which your computer boots up. Programs that you would like to be launched at startup can be selected and unnecessary software can be prevented from launching, which can severely reduce your system’s speed.
